Thank you for visiting my website.?I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science, and in 1993 received my law degree, also from UK. I began practicing law at Northeast Kentucky Legal Services (NEKLS) immediately thereafter.

The central NEKLS office, located in Morehead, serves a fifteen county area. I was primarily responsible for cases generated in Mason, Fleming and Bracken counties. The legal services network is funded in part by Congress to provide civil legal representation for low-income people, who would generally have no other access to the court system. Unlike the public defender's office, we provided no criminal representation. I typically handled cases involving divorce and domestic relations, consumer and bankruptcy, Social Security disability, landlord-tenant, and education law. It was a good place to begin my career.

In 1996, I accepted a position with the Legal Aid Society, here in Louisville Kentucky. As a staff attorney in the Family Law Unit, I was responsible for representing clients with cases in Jefferson County in Family Court. Because of the great need for services in the Louisville area, we accepted only cases involving domestic violence, representing the survivors. Non-violent cases were assigned to volunteer private attorneys. My caseload consisted primarily of divorce cases, civil domestic violence actions, and cases on the child protective docket (dependency/neglect/abuse cases). In focusing on these narrow types of cases, I was able to develop expertise in the Family Law field, and to establish good working relationships with judges, social workers, and other attorneys. I am the co-author of a guidebook for Kentucky attorneys representing survivors of domestic violence.

I joined the private firm of O'Koon, Gray and Weiss in 1999. Keeping my primary focus on domestic relations, I also built expertise in bankruptcy, Social Security disability, worker's compensation, and landlord/tenant law.

The year 2000 marks the opening of my own law office. I will continue to focus on the areas of law in which I have a successful track record. Providing excellent service to my clients will always be my primary goal. Should the need arise, I hope that you consider retaining me to represent you.
